The Official VILLAS at DISNEYLAND HOTEL (Discovery Tower) Owners and Fans Info Thread

It’s the giant Tiana picture in the living room of the 1 bedrooms…. I like the movie…. I like the character…. but I don’t want a full size painting of any character… especially a face character…. staring at me while I am eating or at my kids when they are sleeping…..
I own here and I hate the painting as well 😂 Still wish they would have picked something else

We are currently staying at VDH for the first time (in a studio) and my elementary aged children LOVE the room decor (we have Tiana theme)— I think the room design and layout are great as well, but am not as excited by Tiana as they are. Anyway, just wanted to report for anybody worried that there are no giant scary murals in the studios.

I haven’t stayed in the Disneyland Hotel in about 20 years and I am remembering why I preferred Paradise Pier— namely, that navigating the multiple towers and courtyard here is a little confusing. Having said that, we had a delightful cocktail post-park day at Trader’s Sams (shoutout to the walk-up waitlist in the DL app!) on the charming terrace, and love the abundance of outlets— looking forward to staying again after the monorail reopens.

Finally going home again today and excited to try out the duo garden for a couple of nights! I hope the plumbing issue I remembered reading about earlier has been fixed.
The view is great, and the balcony huge! Hope you have a great stay. We had the hot water issue, but hopefully that is rectified now.

Curious if anyone has been able to do a continuous stay w/cash and points while at VDH. Context -- we have a duo studio the first night and then are moving to a preferred view studio for 10 nights after that. We are flying at 7:00a out of MCO and will get to LAX around 9:30a. Figure with luck we'll be at VDH at 11:30a.

We are not going to the park the first afternoon, but instead are doing pride night. So, that means not getting back to the room until 1:00a or after. Having to take our bags to the bell services and get checked out of the first room before rope dropping that next day does not sound fun (first visit so knowing us we will not be sleeping in, but will rope drop DCA). We'd also like to have a room when we are ready to collapse from tiredness.

So, I didn't know if we could get a cash room through DVC the first night if they could put a note on both reservations for a continuous stay like they could at WDW.

happy to report that water is hot 😃
Husband showered (in a standard room on the second floor) last night, said that “the water wasn’t lukewarm but wasn’t quite as hot as I wanted it to be…my bigger issue was the water pressure.”

I only rinsed off briefly and didn’t notice anything but my only goal was to get in and out ASAP and I wasn’t washing my hair, which is when I really notice water pressure.

Since we own there and plan to use points there, we just figure out the TOT for the year and pull it aside in an envelope when we pay for dues for the year and think of it as part of dues. Then just pull from the envelope for our stays. Then it’s already budgeted for for the year and we don’t really think about it.
Good to know I'm not the only one with an envelope.

We are staying at VDH in a 1 bedroom in mid-August for 4 nights - first family Disneyland trip. We decided to fly in the day before so we can really maximize our first park day and be there for early entry. Of course no rooms were left at VDH by the time we made this decision (not that it matters, because we had no points available to use anyway.) I just booked a standard view room at Grand Californian for our first night with the summer special offer, but am debating whether I should book the Downtown Disney view room at Disneyland Hotel instead (only $22 less.) My thought was we've never experienced the Grand Californian (not sure if/when we'll be back to the DL resort) and since our first morning is early entry at DCA, we can take advantage of the proximity. But then I think having our luggage stored and transferred to our room would probably be a lot easier if we just stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. Any thoughts/advice from the experts? We will want a few grocery items for the room also and would have to hold off on that until checking in to the villa since I know groceries can't be transported...

My opinion here but I'd stick with the Grand Cal for the first night especially if you've never experienced it. And as far as room transfers go, won't make any difference transferring from Grand Cal or Disneyland Hotel to VDH. They're all separate buildings.

Room transfers are not a big deal. Call Bell Services, have them come get your stuff. Tell them you are transferring to the DLH/VDH tower. Get your new room, Call Bell Services at DLH, and they'll bring your bags up.

I'd stick with a 1 BR in the villas over the DLH. Do they have any 1 BR in the DLH with a downtown disney view? Also, keep in mind that most 1 BR in the DLH only have one bathroom. There are a few with a half bath as well, but not many! You'll get two full bathrooms in the villas 1BR suite (not sure if that matters or not).

We do early entry at DCA every trip from the VDH tower. It's not as close as GCH obviously, but it's not a long walk. Exit out the VDH tower, cut through the Frontier tower and walk down Paradise Way. Cross the street at Disneyland Drive and go through the Pixar Pier gate. It can actually be faster than going through the GCH entrance (that line can get really long).

Some will make it sound like the walk from DLH/VDH is uphill both ways.....it's not a long walk, none of the walks are long. Walking from the Monorail station in tomorrow land to the security point at the DLH is about a 17 min walk. This isn't WDW where you have to sometimes take a shuttle just to get to your room from check in at some of the hotels! The whole area is quite compact.
Thanks for the walking tips! I did see that I could have gotten a 1 bedroom family suite at the DLH with the new discount, but it's a bit more than I want to pay. We are a family of 5 and definitely appreciate our space, but we can make do in a standard hotel room for just 1 night. We will appreciate the space of the 1 bedroom at VDH that much more once we transfer (and the 2nd bathroom!) We are starting to like the idea of getting to experience both resorts now also.

We are booked for ten days at VGC starting Sunday. I really wanted the last five nights to be at VDH, but no dice. We have been on the wait list since at least December. I was hoping that as more units were sold that more inventory would mean our waitlist was fulfilled. We stayed at VDH two nights in December and just loved it. I used to love VGC (and still do love the lobby), but I just don’t love the rooms there anymore. I much prefer the vibe at VDH….but hate having to pay taxes there. I love craftsmen style, but I love mid century more. Oh well…truly first world problems.
